"...You're crazy," Tao Yu said, her voice trembling. "Does this even make sense?"
"Be good, eat." Yue Linze didn't answer her question. Instead, he filled a bowl with porridge, cooled it with a spoon, and offered it to Tao Yu's lips.
Tao Yu stared at him, her lips firmly closed.
Yue Linze held the spoon for a moment, his brow furrowing slightly as the porridge cooled completely. He ate the spoonful and offered another.
Seeing Tao Yu still refusing to open her mouth, his eyes darkened. "Eat."
Tao Yu had no doubt that if she refused again, he would either force-feed her or hurt himself in front of her. Finally, she slowly opened her mouth, allowing him to feed her the porridge.
Seeing her finally comply, Yue Linze's expression softened. He meticulously fed her the porridge, spoonful by spoonful.
It was the first time in his life he had served someone like this, yet his attentiveness made him surprisingly adept. He seemed to know from a single glance whether to offer another spoonful or a napkin.
After finishing the small bowl of porridge, although reluctant to admit it, Tao Yu's stomach felt much better.
Yue Linze put down the bowl and whispered, "You haven't eaten in two days. You can't eat too much now, your stomach will be upset. Will you eat a little more later tonight?"
Tao Yu gave him a cold look and turned over in bed. He was using his own body to threaten her, and she shouldn't have given in. This could lead to him escalating his behavior, ultimately endangering his life.
But seeing the wounds on his leg, she couldn't bring herself to be completely heartless. Not to mention that the alternate personality could only survive until his anger dissipated and he integrated back into the main personality, otherwise, his brain would be damaged. She simply couldn't be completely cruel when faced with his injuries.
So, she could only let him manipulate her?
The more Tao Yu thought about it, the angrier she became. She pulled the covers over her head and tried to sleep. Yue Linze sat at the table with a blank expression for a long time before slowly getting up and walking towards the bed. But as he stood, his vision blacked out, and he collapsed, his temple hitting the corner of the table with a dull thud.
Tao Yu shot up, screamed, and rushed towards Yue Linze, who was lying on the floor bleeding from his forehead.
Chaos ensued. After the unconscious Yue Linze was settled, the doctor explained that he had fainted from low blood sugar. Tao Yu sat beside him, her expression grave, her gaze fixed on him.
The housekeeper sighed. "Ever since Miss Tao refused to eat, Master has also been refusing food and barely drinking any water. That's why he collapsed from exhaustion today. Fortunately, nothing serious happened."
Tao Yu remained silent, her heart trembling.
The housekeeper continued, "Although I don't know what happened between you and Master, please don't hurt yourself anymore, Miss Tao. Master can be extreme in his actions, and I fear he'll punish himself even more severely."
"...I understand. Please go back and rest, Housekeeper. I'll stay here and watch over Linze." Tao Yu said, looking down.
The housekeeper could tell she hadn't taken his words to heart. After hesitating, he pulled something out of his coat pocket and carefully placed it on the table.
He frowned. "At first, I thought it was just a playful game between you two, but then I realized something was wrong. I'm sorry it took me this long to help you. I hope that after you leave, you won't pursue this matter further."
Recently, although Master had many happy moments with Miss Tao, there were more unhappy ones. He shouldn't have interfered in Master's life, but after accidentally discovering the wounds on his leg, he felt he couldn't stand idly by any longer.
This room wasn't just imprisoning Miss Tao's body; it was also imprisoning Master's soul. For the good of both of them, it was time to end this.
Tao Yu's fingers trembled as she recognized the object. She quickly snatched it up.
"It's not the right time yet, Miss Tao. Don't rush. There's porridge warming in the kitchen. When Master wakes up, please persuade him to eat some." The housekeeper gave her a meaningful look, unsure whether he had done the right thing, then sighed and left.
Tao Yu stared at the sleeping Yue Linze, contemplating her next move.
In the early hours of the morning, Yue Linze opened his eyes to find Tao Yu sitting before him, himself lying in bed. He stirred, wincing at the pain in his forehead.
Tao Yu didn't speak when she saw him awake. After observing him for a long moment, she said in a low voice, "There's porridge in the kitchen. I'll have someone bring it in."
Yue Linze stared at her, remaining silent. Tao Yu narrowed her eyes. "Answer me."
Yue Linze's lips moved. After a moment, he said, "Okay."
Tao Yu immediately had the porridge brought in. She stirred the bowl continuously, trying to cool it down faster. Yue Linze sat up slightly, watching her movements intently.
When the porridge was cool enough, just as Yue Linze expected her to hand him the bowl, Tao Yu scooped a spoonful and held it to his lips. "Open your mouth."
Yue Linze froze, then obediently opened his mouth. Tao Yu quickly fed him the porridge. It was as if their roles had been completely reversed, repeating the scene from earlier.
After finishing the bowl, Tao Yu placed it and the spoon on the table. Yue Linze stared at her, not quite satisfied. "More."
