Yue Linze looked at her calmly, his dark eyes seemingly piercing her soul. Tao Yu paused, bewildered, and walked over.

"Give it to me," the housekeeper quickly took the tea from her and went to brew it.

Yue Linze continued to stare at her. Tao Yu blinked and gave an awkward smile. "What's wrong?"

"Do you have something to say?" Yue Linze asked.

Tao Yu was puzzled, but just as she was about to speak, she sensed a shift in Yue Linze's demeanor. Her words changed at the last moment. "Yes, Mr. Yue! I just swindled fifteen million yuan from Mr. Linying!"

As soon as she finished speaking, the sound of a cup hitting the glass table came from beside her. When she looked over, the housekeeper apologized. "I'm sorry, my hands are a bit unsteady with age."

Tao Yu smiled understandingly. Unnoticed by her, the corners of Yue Linze's mouth curved into a smile, but it vanished quickly, as if it had never been there. If it could even be called a smile.

"What happened?" he asked.

Tao Yu turned back and recounted the events from beginning to end, as candid as a child.

By the time she finished, her throat was dry. The housekeeper handed her a glass of water, which she gratefully accepted. After drinking, she said breathlessly, "I hope Mr. Yue doesn't think I overstepped. It's just that he seemed to already know I was an imposter. If I didn't play along, I'm afraid he would have exposed me."

The housekeeper nodded repeatedly. "Miss Tao did well. If Mr. Linying had revealed this, it would have caused great trouble for Master."

"That's good," Tao Yu smiled. The housekeeper, feeling guilty for his earlier suspicions, smiled back. The two exceedingly polite individuals continued smiling at each other.

Yue Linze, who had been silent, interrupted them. "Sir, you may leave."

"Yes, Young Master," the housekeeper immediately composed himself and left the room.

Tao Yu pinched her cheeks and, noticing the brewed tea on the table, went over and offered it to Yue Linze. "Mr. Yue, please have some tea."

Yue Linze took the cup. The white steam softened his features. After a moment of silence, he said quietly, "Call me 'Sir' from now on."

Tao Yu, who was about to drink from her own cup, suddenly remembered her conversation with Zhou Yanran and blushed. "...Understood, Sir."

Why did it sound perfectly normal when the housekeeper said it, but slightly improper when she did?

It was all Zhou Yanran's fault. She calmly took a sip of water.

Yue Linze glanced at her and said calmly, "Weren't you curious why I returned to the old residence?"

"I was curious, but whether or not you tell me depends on... Sir's mood." Tao Yu smiled. Currently, Yue Linze's return seemed beneficial to Gu Yansheng and Yue Linying, but not to himself. She couldn't understand his reasons.

"After my car accident, the driver fled, and the surveillance footage from that section of road disappeared," Yue Linze lowered his gaze, concealing the ruthlessness in his eyes. "And from that day on, no one has been allowed to enter Yue Linying's room, not even Zhou Yanran."

"Do you mean to say, Sir, that you suspect the video is in Yue Linying's room?" Tao Yu asked, surprised.

Yue Linze gave a cynical laugh. "Road surveillance footage can't be deleted. Damaging the equipment automatically uploads the contents to the national network. He wouldn't dare do anything, so he can only hide it."

...So the road surveillance system in this world was that advanced. Tao Yu nodded. It seemed that only by making Yue Linying pay would Yue Linze's anger subside. She looked thoughtfully at Yue Linze and, seeing the darkening aura around him, couldn't help but squat down and place her hand over his. "Don't worry, Sir. I will definitely help you."

A patient willing to open up meant he was beginning to trust her. Although she felt this trust was sudden, it didn't stop Tao Yu from showing her goodwill.

Usually, at this point, the patient would be filled with gratitude for her gentleness, thus accelerating the healing process. Tao Yu looked at Yue Linze expectantly.

Yue Linze looked down at her hand. Compared to his, it was soft and small. His long-closed heart seemed to warm slightly because of this harmless and gentle little hand. He raised his eyes, meeting her innocent gaze, and said slowly, "Don't think that Yue Linying's fifteen million yuan is yours now."

"...."

Could they not talk about money at a time like this? It was so detrimental to their budding rapport!
