“The Meteorological Bureau has issued a yellow warning for heavy rain. It is expected that around 8 PM tonight, the city will experience high-intensity rainfall. Please take precautions…”

Yan Zhen glanced out the window. The gray sky was heavy and oppressive, the continuous rain weaving a dense, impenetrable net that enveloped the earth.

“Why are you standing here daydreaming? The guests are arriving soon, hurry up!”

A hurried voice suddenly came from behind her. Yan Zhen turned around to see a capable woman in a suit beckoning to her. Her short hair was neat, she wore an earpiece, and a staff badge hung on her chest. She looked like the venue's coordinator.

Yan Zhen looked around, puzzled. “Are you talking to me?”

The woman momentarily froze when she saw Yan Zhen's face, clearly surprised that the volunteer she’d randomly grabbed was so beautiful. She quickly recovered, her expression brightening. “Yes, you. Come with me.”

Yan Zhen finally realized what was wrong.

Today was the second day of the City Investment and Economic Forum, with numerous industry giants attending the convention center. Her roommate, Jiang Yi, had signed up as a volunteer early on and, after a rigorous selection process, had landed this excellent opportunity to boost her resume. Yan Zhen had no interest in it and planned to relax at home for the weekend. However, her brother, Yan Zhao, had given her an invitation, insisting she come and learn. So, she’d reluctantly come as a visitor. Unexpectedly, while wandering around, she ran into Jiang Yi, who wasn't feeling well.

Jiang Yi had handed her volunteer vest and ID to Yan Zhen before rushing to the restroom, leaving Yan Zhen waiting outside.

Now, it seemed this woman had mistaken her for a volunteer slacking off in a corner of the venue.

She frowned slightly. "Actually—"

“Jiang Yi?” The woman stepped closer, saw the name on the ID card, and interrupted her. “We’re short-staffed right now. We can talk about breaks later. Put on the vest and come with me.”

The woman turned and left, her high heels clicking urgently against the floor. Confused, Yan Zhen took out her phone and sent Jiang Yi a message.

Jiang Yi’s reply was a wail.

[That's probably the volunteer coordinator. She knows my name now, and I'm afraid of making a bad impression. Zhenzhen, please cover for me. I'll come and replace you soon. I'll treat you to dinner when we get back. Please, please!]

[Aren't you afraid she'll realize we're not the same person?]

[No, she's in charge of coordinating and manages a lot of people. She usually only interacts with a few team leaders. I don't know what's going on today, but she actually saw me. I'm so unlucky!]

For her roommate’s sake, Yan Zhen couldn't refuse. She agreed to help and followed the woman.

As they walked, the woman asked, “Economics and Management, Ningchuan University?”

“Yes.”

She looked Yan Zhen up and down. “Didn't your team leader tell you during training that you should wear a light-colored top and dark pants? You're here as a volunteer, not to socialize. Who are you trying to impress with a skirt?”

Yan Zhen remained silent.

“Forget it. There are always a few who don't listen every year.” The woman looked away.
