"You’re talking nonsense! Who likes you?" Feng Yiman yanked her hand away and raised it to hit Chen Yu, but he caught her wrist. "Easy there. You're not so cute when you're hitting people."
She wrenched free and ran off, mortified. Chen Yu chased after her. "Hey! It's just a kiss. It's not like it'll hurt you."
"It does hurt! Don't you know this is still my..." She trailed off, unable to finish her sentence. Her eyes were wide, her face flushed crimson, and her chest heaved with indignation. The dress she wore today clearly didn't enhance her bust as much as the one she'd worn the first day.
Chen Yu frowned slightly, waiting for her to finish, but she didn't. A look of understanding dawned on his face. "Oh~ You're a v1rgin?" He'd hit the jackpot!
Her subtle expression confirmed his guess, and his smile turned mischievous. "Tell you what, I'll take one for the team. You can just kiss me back."
His shameless logic infuriated Feng Yiman. She turned to leave without another word, but bumped into someone familiar.
"Whoa! Look at you, Chen! Already snagged our beautiful brainiac?"
It was Yao Hainan, Chen Yu's best friend. They'd planned to meet at the mall and head to the internet cafe.
And now he'd walked in on this?
"If I'd known you were busy picking up girls, I wouldn't have come to be a third wheel!" He planted his hands on his hips, enjoying the spectacle.
Feng Yiman, even more embarrassed, flushed and fled. Chen Yu took off after her.
"Hey! Wait a minute! You haven't paid!" a shop assistant called after them. People actually ran off without paying in broad daylight? Her gaze landed on Yao Hainan, who was also about to leave. "Excuse me, handsome. Can you pay for your friend?" Judging by their earlier interaction, they must know each other.
Yao Hainan's lips twitched. "H-how much?"
"499!"
"Chen Yu, I'll kill you!" he muttered under his breath.
Feng Yiman ran, Chen Yu pursued, their figures blurring through the mall corridors.
Chen Yu, with his longer legs, quickly caught up to her. "Hey! You're being a bit dramatic. A little bit of playing hard to get is fine, but this is too much!"
She struggled against his grip, acutely aware of the curious stares from passersby. "I don't like you!" Who was playing hard to get?
"You don't like me? Then why did you make that anime character that looks like me? And set it as your wallpaper?" He didn't believe her for a second. From the moment she'd sat next to him on the first day, she'd been secretly giggling and even asked him out. If that wasn't liking him, what was?
"That wasn't you!" She knew he'd misunderstood.
"If it wasn't me, then who was it?"
Suddenly, she realized how conceited he was. Sighing, she tried to calm herself. "Let go of me, and I'll explain."
Chen Yu released her.
She pulled out her phone, opened a manga app, and found the comic she often read. "One of the main characters in this is named Chen Yu. He's my favorite character. You just happen to have the same name."
Chen Yu flipped through a few pages. His face fell.
The comic was called "My Deskmate is So Cute," and it was BL. Two guys were intimately embracing, whispering sweet nothings. One of them, the more delicate-featured one, was being called "Chen Yu." It was indeed the same name.
"D*mn it!" He felt utterly mortified, his skin crawling.
Yao Hainan caught up, panting. He slung an arm around Chen Yu's shoulder. "Dude, you're unbelievable. You owe me 799!"
Chen Yu shrugged him off. "Get lost!" he snapped.
He shoved the phone back into Feng Yiman's hand and turned to leave.
