She turned around. It was an ordinary, middle-aged man with a briefcase. Seeing her looking at him, he feigned a look of confusion.
She moved a few steps to the side, just reaching the crowded area by the subway doors, where it was difficult to move.
Qiao Li saw the man pushing through the crowd in the reflection of the window, coming towards her once again.
Watching the man getting closer and closer, and with the crowd in front too dense to move through, she was trapped.
The expected heat didn't come. Instead, a clean, fresh scent wafted from her side.
She looked up at the reflection in the window and saw a young man in a white T-shirt standing between her and the other man.
He was very close to her, but maintained a respectful distance despite the crowded conditions. She could see the muscles in his hand tense as he gripped the handrail to keep from being jostled.
She only reached his shoulder, having to look up to see his profile.
His jawline was sharp and clean, his nose straight, his features handsome and well-defined, his skin clear and fair. His Adam's apple was prominent, bobbing slightly as he tilted his head.
Qiao Li wanted to thank him, but seeing the AirPods in his ears, she decided against it.
The subway passed a few more stations. Qiao Li saw the creepy man get off, but the young man beside her continued to shield her, his shoulder bumped several times by the flow of passengers, yet he never once brushed against her.
Soon, her stop arrived, and Qiao Li followed the flow of people off the train.
Out of the subway station, Qiao Li didn't want to go home, so she decided to buy a few cans of beer at the convenience store next to the station and drink them by the river near her home.
Entering the convenience store, Qiao Li grabbed some beers from the cooler. Turning the corner, she unexpectedly saw the young man again.
Seeing him paying, Qiao Li quickly took out her phone to scan the QR code and said to the cashier, "Put it all on one bill."
Then, she smiled at the handsome young man. "Thank you for earlier."

Forty minutes earlier.
Feng Yi took out his phone and quickly sent a message to his best friend.
[abcdYifg: Dude! I saw my goddess on the subway!]
[Monkey King: Who?]
[abcdYifg: Remember that summer vacation a year ago, the breathtakingly beautiful woman I told you about that I ran into on the subway several times? That's her!]
[Monkey King: Child, is that how you compliment someone?]
Feng Yi didn't want to bother with Qi Han anymore. He held up his phone and discreetly took a picture of Qiao Li's profile.
One less regret in life!
A year ago, during his sophomore summer vacation, he didn't have a phone yet, so he couldn't even sneak a picture of his goddess as a souvenir. He never saw her on the subway again after that. Qi Han told him that with so many people in this city, he might never see her again, and he was heartbroken for a long time.
He still remembered the first time he saw his goddess. She was also wearing a professional outfit, dark hair, red lips, her head slightly tilted, a strand of hair curling at the nape of her neck. He understood for the first time what it meant to exude charm from within, yet she also carried a pure, innocent air.
It was as if an arrow had pierced his heart. He felt his heart beating so hard that he had to cover his chest to prevent the people around him from hearing it.
Before, when his friends would swoon over female celebrities, crying out "wife," "my girlfriend is so beautiful," "goddess," he always scoffed, only to be attacked by his friends, who said he didn't appreciate beauty.
